At first, I felt ridiculous documenting my slippers and my tea. I could only concentrate on the things that weren't perfect enough or pretty enough. But then, something kind of wonderful happened. Instead of looking at the cat hair on the carpet or the pile of unwashed dishes or the curtains I really hate, I started to see things like the way the light streams in through our windows and makes the shadows change. Or the reflection of a picture I have on my dresser. Or how our mess actually says more about our lives than any beautifully decorated table ever could (not that I am hating on beautifully decorated tables...trust me). Our mess is honest, and that is beautiful.
So my New Year's Resolution for 2015 is to document my own life more, and to learn to love our mess.
